The Laguna Fishing Shelter

Famagusta Laguna Beach is a busy part of the region and a centre of attraction. When the pier at Famagusta Commercial harbour was demolished in 2017, fishermen moved to the fishing shelter in Laguna as there was no place to moor their boats.

TİKA's Contributions

In the projects carried out in 2020, 2021 and 2023 renovation of the 264-meters pier strip in the laguna, deepening the sea basin area to allow boats to enter, installation of 2-metre long concrete blocks and steel bollards were carried out. In addition, the landscaping of the area behind the docks, construction of a vehicle road, renovation of the walkway, landscaping arrangements, construction of electricity and water infrastructure were completed and waste storage and garbage areas were created.
